Stepping up to help
During these challenging times, Gillette is stepping up to play our part by protecting the health and well-being of our employees, serving consumers around the world who count on our brands, supporting workers, relief agencies and communities who are on the front lines of this global pandemic. Globally, Gillette has committed more than $7 million in monetary and in-kind relief since the start of the pandemic. This includes a commitment to helping the heroes in our local Massachusetts community, where our in-kind donations of razors, face shields, N95 masks and hand sanitizer total over $1.7 million.
We don't know how long this crisis will last, but we do know that the dedication and resiliency of our brave healthcare workers and first responders will last longer. And so will our commitment to continue to support and serve them, our consumer and our communities in any way we can.

Razors
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued guidance that encourages shaving when wearing N95 and similar respiratory masks to ensure proper mask fit. Many workers who wear these protective masks are choosing to shave (or are required to do so) to get the most protection from their equipment.
Around the world, we are donating more than 1.9 million razors to healthcare workers and first responders.
-
Face shields
Face shields play a key role in keeping our healthcare workers safe – they are to be worn over N95 respirators to protect them from being soiled and damaged.
When our employees heard that hospitals were experiencing a shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), they quickly came together to leverage their engineering knowhow and Gillette’s manufacturing capability to help supply critical PPE to our healthcare workers. Within days, they had a working face shield prototype. They quickly refined designs and started production and assembly at our South Boston World Shaving Headquarters.
We have now distributed more than 100,000 face shields to Massachusetts healthcare organizations and have committed to producing donating 200,000 more in the coming months.

masks
At our South Boston World Shaving Headquarters, our team had inventory of N95 respiratory masks used in manufacturing. We’ve committed more 75,000 of these masks to hospitals in Massachusetts to help protect health care workers and first responders.

Hand sanitizer
There are many ingredient similarities and manufacturing synergies between Gillette Shaving Gels and the WHO-approved hand sanitizer formulas. We have been able to add capacity at two of our Gillette manufacturing facilities to start production of sanitizer to ensure our people can continue operating safely and to donate to hospitals, health authorities and relief organizations. Across the total P&G company, we will be producing at least 45,000 liters of hand sanitizer every week when all the additional capacity is fully operational.
P&G’s contributions of product and in-kind support now exceed $15 million and will continue to increase as we work with communities around the world to ensure families in need can have the cleaning, health, and hygiene benefits P&G products can provide.
Gillette has been part of the community in Boston, MA for more than a century and stand united with the City of Boston and the State of Massachusetts through this adversity. In addition to the donation of face masks and face shields, we were an early contributor to the Mayor’s Boston Resiliency Fund and have donated upwards of $400,000 worth of P&G products like Gillette, Bounty and Charmin to support the most vulnerable communities in Boston.

Everything we do to help starts with our people. To allow us to continue making, packing and shipping the products needed by people on the front lines and by consumers around the world during this crisis, our manufacturing facilities remain operational. With guidance from medical professionals, we’re constantly evaluating and updating the robust measures already in place to keep everyone safe at work. This includes entrance screening and temperature scans, physical distancing, and we’ve dramatically increased the frequency and rigor of cleaning and sanitization of all production areas.
